THE PURPLES MATCH
The Purples match is shot each Spring at Bisley and is Suffolks traditional start to the shooting year. The weather can be variable and, true to form, after a month of unremitting sunshine, Bisley greeted us with near gale-force conditions!
A practice session was completed with chattering teeth and full waterproofs. Sunday dawned marginally warmer and considerably windier the gusts were so strong that everyone had trouble stopping their rifles being buffeted by the blasts.
The result was low scoring throughout, and Suffolk suffered more than most. The silver lining to these storm clouds came in the form of a possible at 300 yards from Robin and one at 500 from Mike. It was not, however, our finest hour - but we did at least escape the rain!
